The international conventions are quite clear that a genuine refugee needs to claim refugee status in the nearest safe country and we are by no means the nearest safe country to Syria. We are far more generous in supporting the refugee camps around Syria than any other European country. England is the most densely populated country in Europe and facing massive austerity. People in England are dying because of the lack of affordable drugs, we here of OAPs dying in winter because they can’t afford the fuel costs to keep warm, ex soldiers living on the streets of our major cities after returning from wars that the UK Labour party started. We have gone far beyond our international obligations with regards to Syria, we need to concentrate on our obligations to the people of England.
